Position Purpose:

A Retail Store Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of a retail store by providing excellent customer service, maintaining store presentation, handling stock, and assisting with sales and transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers, identify their needs, and provide product information or assistance.
  • Process sales transactions using POS systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-presented store environment.
  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and displaying stock and promotional materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report low or damaged stock.
  • Ensure compliance with store policies, health and safety standards, and security procedures.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally.
  • Support team members and contribute to a positive, customer-focused work culture.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and customer-oriented.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math and computer skills (POS, inventory systems).
  • Team player with attention to detail and a proactive attitude.

Qualifications:

  • No formal qualifications required; previous retail or customer service experience is advantageous.
  • Training in sales techniques, customer service, or merchandising is beneficial.
