Family Cleaning Solutions – Mount Gambier, SA

Position Overview

Family Cleaning Solutions is a family-owned cleaning business providing residential, office, and commercial cleaning services throughout Mount Gambier and surrounding areas. We are seeking reliable, hardworking casual cleaners to join our team.

This is a hands-on, labour-intensive role that requires physical fitness, previous cleaning experience, speed, and attention to detail. Cleaners must maintain high standards of sanitation while working quickly and efficiently to meet client expectations. After training, cleaners will be expected to work independently, taking full responsibility for the quality and pace of their work.

Successful applicants will primarily take on residential cleans, allowing the business owners to focus on commercial work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning and sanitation across residential, office, and commercial sites, including but not limited to:
  • Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors
  • Cleaning and sanitising kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas
  • Emptying bins and replacing liners
  • Polishing and sanitising fixtures, fittings, and surfaces
  • Making beds, washing dishes, and general tidying tasks
  • Assisting with light laundry duties if required
  • Work at a fast and efficient pace while ensuring sanitation standards are met.
  • Ensure all allocated tasks are completed within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Follow company checklists, sanitation procedures, and safety standards at all times.
  • Correctly use and maintain company-provided cleaning equipment, promptly reporting any faults.
  • Handle industrial-grade cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with training.
  • Respect client privacy, property, and confidentiality.
  • Communicate politely and respectfully with clients when onsite, while all scheduling and job instructions are managed by the business owners.
  • Work independently after training, taking full responsibility for the quality, pace, and sanitation of completed cleans.

Training & Standards

  • All staff will undertake structured training covering cleaning methods, sanitation practices, chemical handling, safety procedures, and company standards.
  • High expectations will be placed on the speed, detail, and sanitation quality of completed cleans.
  • Once training is complete, cleaners will be expected to work independently to consistently meet company standards.

Probationary Period

  • All new cleaners will be on a 3-month probationary period.
  • During this period, performance will be closely monitored in relation to speed, sanitation, and independence.
  • At the end of the probationary period:
  • Employees who meet the required standards will receive a mandatory pay increase.
  • Employees who do not meet the required standards may be terminated.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Provide a current Police Check before commencing work.
  • Provide proof of working rights in Australia (birth certificate or other acceptable documentation).
  • Hold a current and valid driver's licence.
  • Be able to drive a manual car (training provided if required).
  • Be physically fit and fast-moving, capable of handling the demands of a fast-paced, physical role.
  • Be available for flexible working hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Have reliable cleaning experience and the ability to complete tasks to a high standard at speed.
  • Have reliable transport to attend various work sites.

Desirable Attributes

  • Previous experience in residential, office, or commercial cleaning (strongly preferred).
  • Proven ability to work quickly without compromising sanitation or detail.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to company sanitation procedures.

Work Conditions

  • Casual employment under the Miscellaneous Award.
  • Minimum shift engagement: 2 hours, even if less work is required.
  • Lunch breaks are paid and included in work hours.
  • Shifts and locations will vary depending on client needs.
  • This is a physical role requiring speed, stamina, and consistent sanitation practices.
  • As the business grows, additional hours may become available.
