Synergie Australia is seeking long term contract staff to start in the New Year to help the national Electric Ant Eradication Program
The important parts:
- Location: Cairns, QLD
- Start date: Late January contracts until 30 June 2027 with possible extensions
- Rate: $ p/h plus super - Casual rate
- Supportive and friendly team environment.
- Must have Australian work rights and be a permanent resident (Working Holiday Visa holders need not apply)
- Must have a C class license and be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test, Criminal History check and pre-employment medical
What you will be required to do:
We have a range of opportunities available for the following roles:
3 x Project Support Officers (office based administrative roles) - allocating work assignments to field officers, creating and analysing GIS data to assist field teams, writing progress reports, briefing management.
Biosecurity Officer (50/50 office / field based) - conducting field-based monitoring, surveillance and treatment activities, data information gathering, recording and collation of data, using GPS mapping - ACDC license desirable.
Science Technician - Laboratory based - microscopic work, preparing specimens, identifying species, presenting data via tabulation and graphs etc
To be successful in these roles you must have:
- Previous experience working within government or scientific research-based industries
- Project Officers must have previous experience with project based work (intermediate/advanced MS Office) and spatial mapping programs eg ArcGIS
- Biosecurity Officer and Lab Technician - must have a Diploma relevant to the industry eg Science or Environmental based
- Have full working rights in Australia
- Have access to reliable transport and ability to get to work (department/laboratory based in Portsmith but occasional travel may be required to Mossman or Innisfail offices)
- Demonstrate a positive attitude towards safety and its importance in every role.
