ISLAND SECURITY OFFICER – Island Security

Hamilton Island is seeking a professional and committed Island Safety and Security Officer to join our on-island team. In this vital role, you will ensure the safety and protection of our guests, staff, and assets, contributing to the smooth, secure operation of one of Australia's most iconic resort destinations.

Your Role

This is a full-time, live-on-island role reporting to the Aviation Security & Compliance Manager. You'll be responsible for providing a safe and secure environment across Hamilton Island through regular patrols, incident response, regulatory enforcement, and emergency support.

Where you'll make an impact
  • Conduct island-wide patrols and respond to incidents professionally and promptly
  • Assist with crowd control and support departmental managers during busy periods
  • Manage traffic issues including accidents, breakdowns, and issuing of infringements
  • Respond to alarm activations, staff lockouts, and lost/found property reports
  • Perform drug and alcohol testing in line with HIE policy
  • Act as a first responder for medical assistance and emergency situations
  • Maintain records of on-call personnel and respond to after-hours issues
  • Support administrative tasks and communication logs
  • Manage aviation security access and maintain eligibility for an ASIC
  • Uphold all WHS and compliance policies and procedures
What we're looking for

You are a reliable, professional communicator who remains calm in high-pressure environments. With a strong background in safety and emergency response, you demonstrate high personal integrity, attention to detail, and a strong sense of accountability in all situations.

To be successful, you will need:
  • Valid Driver Licence (Essential)
  • Security Provider Licence – Security Officer (Unarmed) (Essential)
  • Security Provider Licence – Crowd Controller (Essential)
  • RSA – Responsible Service of Alcohol (Essential)
  • Advanced Resuscitation and First Aid – HLTAID006 (Essential)
  • Eligibility for an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) (Essential)
  • Ability to work independently and respond appropriately in high-pressure situations
  • Previous experience in a similar safety, security, or emergency response role (Highly regarded)
