Overview Of Role
The Assistant Principal - Mission (APM) role has a co-responsible leadership position within the School Leadership Team (SLT) - alongside the Principal and Assistant Principal - Learning & Teaching, and AP - Pastoral Care - in contributing to the ongoing nature of the Catholic parish school as an effective centre of Catholic Mission which ensures Catholic Identity; animates each student's passion to live an intentional faith; and looks to support the wellbeing of every student as a child of God, made in God's image.

The APM works pastorally with students and their families and, within the School Leadership Team (SLT), is co-responsible for pastoral outcomes. These outcomes are always viewed through a Catholic worldview which highlights forgiveness and mercy, restorative justice, and outreach to the poor and marginalised. The APM works closely with the Parish Priest. Underpinning the parish in this work is a sense of community, in particular, Eucharistic community. Parishes are environments of living communion and participation; the structures and personnel of the parish are there to serve the community, providing worship, teaching and care for the people of God.

The APM is directly responsible to the Principal for the performance of his/her duties and can deputise in the absence of the Principal. The APM works closely with the Principal in the complex nature of school leadership and to enhance the SLT's professional learning. The APM contributes to the collaborative decision-making processes and co-leads in the planning, implementation and evaluation of school goals in school improvement and performance. The APM has responsibility and supervision of the Leader of School Evangelisation (who in turn works with the Youth Ministry Officers) and the Leader of Catechesis, within a team approach. The Parish Priest is kept informed of this team's progress.
