The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Deer Control Coordinator to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.
The primary purpose of the role is to support delivery of the South Australian Feral Deer Eradication Program . This ambitious Program is now into its fourth year and has already removed over 27,000 feral deer from across the State. In this role, you will support operations and initiatives to effectively manage the environmental, agricultural, and pastoral impacts of feral deer with the aim of ensuring the ongoing effective management of the environment, as well as helping to secure agricultural and pastoral production.
The role contributes delivering the agency's priorities including:
· Increasing productivity of our primary industries and agribusinesses
· Securing production through biosecurity and efficient and sustainable use of resources
· Build partnerships with industry, stakeholders, research organisations and regional communities
· Managing adverse events effectively and helping primary industries and communities improve preparedness, resilience and recover well.
The role contributes to delivering Biosecurity objectives by:
· Managing the risks to South Australia posed by animal pests
The role sits within the Pest Animal Team of the Invasive Species Unit. The Invasive Species Unit is focused primarily on the management of weeds and vertebrate pests declared under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019 and on the management of aquatic pests under the Fisheries Management Act 2007. The Invasive Species Unit works closely and effectively with regional landscape boards, the Department for Environment and Water (DEW), and equivalent interstate agencies to achieve impactful, coordinated, strategic responses to new incursions and management of existing priority pest species.

Special Conditions
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- Opportunity up to June 2026 .
- Full time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week.

Remuneration
AS05 - $85,790 min - $95,413 max per annum, plus superannuation
