As our Health and Wellbeing Planning Officer, you'll be instrumental in translating strategy into meaningful action on the ground, reporting directly to the Community Wellbeing Coordinator.

Your role will involve:

  • Strategic Action: Contributing to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Council's strategic plans and priorities for health and wellbeing.
  • Community Engagement & Empowerment: Effectively engaging with community groups and networks, empowering our residents to be actively involved in civic life and influence key plans and strategies.
  • Building Community Resilience: through collaborative partnerships with internal teams, external agencies, and community organisations, including assisting with municipal recovery efforts during and post-emergency events.
  • Partnership and Planning: Building trusted partnerships to plan, implement, and report on key projects. This includes facilitating and supporting our outlying communities to increase inclusion, resilience, and participation.
  • Advocacy for All: Engaging with groups and networks representing marginalised community members to ensure their needs and aspirations are understood and integrated into our planning.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Providing reports against the Council Plan, Action Plan, and the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
  • Continuous Improvement: Encouraging innovation and supporting organisational development and continuous improvement initiatives within the Council.
What We're Looking For: About You
  • Skills & Experience: Demonstrated skills and practical experience in community development, community engagement, inclusion, and strategic planning, preferably within health promotion.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively, build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, and thrive as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Rural Focus: An understanding of health and wellbeing issues experienced in rural communities is highly valued.
  • Organisational: Excellent time management skills, including the ability to prioritise work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in health promotion or community development is desirable, alongside a current Australian Driver's Licence.
