The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) Sterilising Services practices as a member of the Central Sterilising Department (CSD) with a variety of tasks in providing a service of reprocessing reusable surgical and medical equipment. The AIN Sterilising Services is responsible for providing efficient, effective sterilising practices according to best practice standards.

Unit Profile
CSU processes reusable medical devices (RMDs) and equipment by cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation of RMDs prior to and between patient uses. CSU processes RMDs that can be used safely without risk of transmission of infectious agents. CSU utilises an electronic tracking system for traceability during reprocessing and subsequent use on patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.

The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) Sterilising Services practices as a member of the Central Sterilising Department (CSD) with a variety of tasks in providing a service of reprocessing reusable surgical and medical equipment. The AIN Sterilising Services is responsible for providing efficient, effective sterilising practices according to best practice standards.

  • Consistently deliver a high level of service according to Central Sterilising Department (CSD) procedures and processes and required standards.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork to build a positive team culture within their work unit.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of quality processes and demonstrate a willingness to participate in quality activities; contribute to a safe environment for patients and staff.
