Brisbane, Queensland, Australia McNab Constructions Australia Pty Ltd Full time $120,000 - $250,000 per year

McNab is one of Australia's largest privately owned construction companies, delivering landmark projects that combine scale and expertise, with a relationship-based approach.

At McNab, you won't just join a company – you'll join a team that's shaping the future of Construction, Development, and Property in Australia. From landmark builds to community-focused developments, you'll work across a wide range of exciting projects. We're all about strong partnerships, commercial smarts, and delivering certainty – and we're looking for someone who shares those values. With 9 out of 10 projects from repeat clients, we focus on long-term relationships built on genuine care and trusted performance.

With a strong pipeline of industrial, multi-residential, and commercial projects, we offer the opportunity to work on diverse and exciting builds, backed by a full workbook and a supportive, high-performing team.

About the role

At McNab, our Estimators don't just "price the job"—they shape the playbook.

This role will see you transform sharp strategy into winning bids. You will work closely with the greater team and be hands on when it comes to cost planning for repeat and ECI business, and hard dollar tendering. You will have previous experience working on a broad range of tenders and cost plans, including multi story residential, aged care, commercial and industrial projects, anywhere between $5M-$120M in value.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own bid strategy – brainstorm value-driven approaches with senior leaders, then translate them into clear scopes and risk profiles.
  • Hands-on cost planning – prepare BOQs, subcontractor packages and hard-dollar tenders for repeat clients, ECI opportunities and design-and-construct projects.
  • Market intel – cultivate strong relationships with local subcontractors to secure accurate pricing and keep your finger on the pulse of supply trends.
  • Buildability insight – partner with operational teams to test programmes, methodologies and value-engineering options before they hit site.
  • Negotiation & handover – lead post-tender negotiations and compile contract documentation that sets our construction teams up for success.

About you

  • Proven estimating / cost-planning experience on diverse projects over $20m
  • Degree qualified in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar
  • Proficiency in Buildsoft and/or CostX.
  • Ability to assess incomplete design documentation and still price with confidence.
  • Relationship-builder who knows the local subcontractor market inside out.
  • You act with curiosity and confidence when it comes to business decisions and how to create results
  • You are continually learning and prepared to mentor and impart knowledge to others in the team
