Berlitz is a global provider of language training for organisations, adults and young learners with over 400 branches in 70 countries. In Australia, Berlitz provides both English/ESL language tutoring and foreign language courses across Australia with both in-person lessons and online programs.

We are seeking an enthusiastic ESL/English tutor who has experience teaching young children from non-English backgrounds how to speak English. We have a specific client with a young child of primary school age (6-10yo) who has recently arrived in Brisbane. The person comes from South America with a very limited ability to use English. The goal is to improve their ability to both understand English and speak English so they can communicate at school with both other students and classroom teachers.

The successful candidate must have the following characteristics:

  • Prior experience teaching young children is essential.
  • A Working With Children check is mandatory.
  • Excellent organisational skills for both creating lessons and documenting progress.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish a rapport with children.
  • The ability to adapt lessons and be creative during each lesson by using a variety of learning materials that are appropriate.
  • The person must have the ability to travel to the home residence, preferably with own car or by public transport.
  • An enthusiastic and energetic teaching style that helps to keep a young learner motivated and keen to learn, even after a long day at school.

Job Types: Freelance, Contract

Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $45.00 – $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2 – 3 per week
