About SafeWork NSW

SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. Our focus is to protect NSW workers by preventing and reducing work related fatalities, serious injuries, and illnesses by securing compliance with work health and safety and associated legislation.

SafeWork NSW is undergoing an exciting and important period of transformation as we establish the organisation as a modern, strong and standalone Work Health and Safety Regulator.

About the team

SafeWork NSW Operations Regional directorate has a strategic approach to supporting safe, healthy, and productive workplaces in Regional NSW. This approach focuses on protecting NSW workers through strategic stakeholder engagement, evidence-based and risk-focused harm prevention initiatives, and proportionate and targeted regulatory responses to incidents and service requests.

About the role

As the Assistant Advisor, Wellbeing and Safety, you will provide a wide range of administrative and operational support to our safety and wellbeing functions. You'll help maintain accurate WHS records, coordinate meetings and events, prepare reports, and assist with communication strategies to ensure our people are supported and informed.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same – from coordinating WHS initiatives and projects, to assisting with hazard responses, to supporting wellbeing programs that promote a safe and positive workplace.

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the wellbeing and safety team.
  • Maintain accurate WHS documentation and prepare timely reports to support decision-making.
  • Coordinate WHS events, meetings, committees, and communication activities.
  • Assist with project administration, tracking progress and maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Act as a contact point for WHS administrative issues, helping with incident responses and action plans.
  • Share updates and information to ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practice.

What we are looking for

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in working with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, with experience in record-keeping and report preparation.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with an interest in developing knowledge of workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive matters.
