About the role

Position: Qualified Train Driver

Location: Narrabri, NSW

Status: Full time or Casual

The primary objective of the Train Driver position is to drive locomotives and operate trains safely and efficiently in accordance with QLRS, track access provider, regulator and siding owner rules and procedures.

Duties include:

  • Work with a commitment to safety and demonstrate Qube's values of Integrity, Reliability and Inclusion
  • Fulfil train operations requirements in a timely, safe, efficient and punctual manner
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, briefing sessions and toolbox talks associated with safe and efficient train operations
  • Work towards achieving your Certificate IV in Train Driving (TLI42622) if not already held
  • Demonstrate and disseminate a positive safety culture throughout all levels of the business and operations
  • Comply with and promote the Qube Rail Safety Management System
  • Comply with procedures, work instructions, operating protocols and rules in order to deliver safe and efficient train operations
  • Ensure that the relevant persons are notified of all category A and B rail safety incidents in accordance with Qube Rail Safety Management System
  • Mentor other Train Drivers and Trainee train drivers / Drivers Assistant in train handling and fuel conservation strategies
  • Conduct shunting and train inspections in accordance with company procedures and work instructions
  • Promote Qube in all forums to raise the organisation's profile within industry
  • Available to work across a 24/7 shift work roster

About You

  • At a minimum TLI42615 Certificate IV in Train Driving (or units within that qualification), and have a willingness to work towards achieving the current qualification
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Current Drivers Licence - Recent drivers licence history required
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication skills.  A Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment will form part of the recruitment process
  • Knowledge of safe working requirements on all routes, mainlines, terminals and sidings
  • Work collaboratively and harmoniously as a part of a team
  • Be flexible and adaptable to work in safety critical environment
