The Role

We are looking for a committed and insightful Asset Performance Engineer to deliver water and/or wastewater engineering solutions that harmonise customer service expectations, asset lifecycle costs, and operational risks. This role centres on asset reliability and performance through collaborative data analysis, strategic planning, and careful risk management aligned with industry best practices. You will play an important role in supporting Tasmania's water infrastructure through innovative, proactive maintenance planning and fostering strong, inclusive stakeholder relationships.

  • Serve as the Asset Manager within the GFMAM and ISO 55000 frameworks, guiding your assigned asset portfolio with care and responsibility.

  • Collaboratively develop and maintain Asset Lifecycle Strategies and 5-year capital investment plans, considering asset condition, reliability, and stakeholder perspectives.

  • Engage in thoughtful asset performance analysis to understand root causes of failure and implement practical, reliability-enhancing solutions.

  • Apply asset criticality and risk assessment frameworks to support well-informed, balanced decision-making that considers diverse factors.

  • Support adherence to regulatory levels of service and contribute to shaping investment guidelines and asset management policies in a consultative way.

  • Foster a culture of safety by actively promoting Work Health and Safety policies and the principles of Zero Harm for everyone involved.

What we're looking for

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable professional with a solid foundation in engineering and asset performance. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, industry experience, and thoughtful strategic insight to collaboratively enhance the reliability and resilience of our infrastructure assets

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related field.

  • Proven experience in monitoring, analysing, and improving the performance of infrastructure assets with attention to detail and continuous improvement.

  • Experience developing asset management strategies and plans that thoughtfully balance performance, cost, and customer service considerations.

  • Knowledge of water and sewer engineering, preferably within the water utility or a similar sector.

  • Familiarity with asset management systems and frameworks, including ISO 55000 or equivalent.
