Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.

We are seeking a dynamic professional with hands-on experience in Work Health and Safety and manual handling coordination, ideally supported by a health science background or experience in a hospital setting. Formal WHS qualifications such as a Certificate IV, Diploma, or higher are highly valued.

You will bring proven expertise in managing WHS services, navigating complex legislation, and driving positive change in large, fast-paced environments. Your track record includes leading timely incident investigations and developing innovative strategies to minimise future risks.

Your ability to build strong relationships, negotiate effectively, and communicate at a high level—both in writing and verbally—will set you apart. You thrive working independently and collaboratively, and you are passionate about delivering exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.

You have demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based quality improvement initiatives, including education and training programs.

What you'll be doing

This position provides an operational assistance and advisory service to Program Directors, managers and workers in the management of WHS, compliance to legislation and the prevention of workplace incidents and injuries.

Being part of a team that has the responsibility for ensuring that Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN) complies with the requirements of NSW WHS Legislation, NSW Ministry of Health and local hospital policies and procedures

This position is suited to a person who is organized, proactive and able to deal with competing demands, with experience in Work Health and Safety in a large diverse organization. You need to be independent and also able to work as part of a team with excellent communication skills and a strong focus on the customer.

The successful candidate will ensure directors and managers understand their accountabilities and responsibilities under current WHS legislation and regulations.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in WHS and Manual Handling Coordination together with a health science background and/or experience working in a hospital setting
  • Can undertaken timely management of a work health safety service and demonstrated working knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence
