About the Role
The Individual Learning Teacher will be dedicated to supporting the Primary School students who have a broad range of additional needs, including cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and sensory differences. This role plays a crucial part in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that stretches and challenges our highly capable and Twice/Thrice Exceptional (2/3E) students, enabling them to reach their full potential.
Reporting to the Head of Primary, through the Head of Individual Learning, the Individual Learning Teacher is expected to uphold and embody the school's purpose and values both inside and outside the classroom. Working in close collaboration with the Head of Individual Learning, they will design and implement personal and inclusive opportunities that promote academic excellence, personal growth, and student engagement.
As an inclusive educator, the Individual Learning Teacher will take an active role in building the capacity of classroom teachers and other professionals, equipping them with strategies to create positive, differentiated, and enriching educational experiences for students with diverse learning profiles. This includes providing guidance on best practices, contributing to professional development, and fostering a culture of collaboration and support within the school community.
This is a non-class-based position focused on enhancing student outcomes through specialised personal planning, enrichment opportunities, small group teaching, collaboration, and teacher support.
About You
You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:
- An ACT teacher's registration through the ACT TQI or willingness to apply
- Extensive experience in developing and implementing evidence-based teaching programmes and resources, that meet the needs of 2/3E and highly capable students from ELC to Year 6
- Specific qualification/s and/or experience in supporting students who are 2/3E or highly capable
- Knowledge of positive teaching practices to support student engagement
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills
- Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum; Disability Discrimination Act (1992); Disability Standards for Education and the AITSL standards for professional teachers
- Knowledge of the IB PYP or an inquiry approach to learning
All team members at CGS are required to have:
- Excellent written English and effective interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent technological literacy across a range of applications
- A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card or willingness to apply
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
