HHG Legal Group is a leading Western Australian law firm with over 100 years of history, five offices across the State, and a strong reputation for excellence, trust and care. As we continue to scale, we are strengthening our financial governance and client-risk capability and we're looking for a highly skilled Credit Controller / Accounts Receivable Manager to join our centralised Finance & Operations team.
This role is not a standard AR position. It is a high-impact, credit control function that is responsible for driving the firm's credit risk strategy, improving cashflow, reducing aged debt, and embedding a mature AR framework across the business. You'll work closely with senior leadership, partners, fee earners and clients, playing a critical role in safeguarding the firm's financial health.
The Role
You will take end-to-end ownership of credit control and accounts receivable, including:
• Lead the firm's credit risk framework, including risk scoring, categorisation and ongoing reviews.
• Conduct credit checks and assess financial/behavioural risk for all new and existing matters.
• Receipting and Reconciliation of both trust and general accounts.
• Drive cashflow outcomes through proactive collections, early-risk intervention and escalation management.
• Manage debtor communication professionally and resolve payment issues collaboratively with lawyers.
• Monitor WIP, trust exposure and high-risk matters to minimise arrears and write-offs.
• Deliver clear reporting and insights (DSO, aged debt, risk mapping) to senior leadership.
• Improve AR processes, workflows, system automation and credit control SOPs.
• Maintain governance controls, including the high-risk watchlist and client-risk recommendations.
About You
You'll be a strong fit if you bring:
• Experience in credit control, accounts receivable or financial risk management (legal/professional services preferred but not essential).
• Strong analytical capability and confidence interpreting financial risk indicators.
• A proactive, structured approach to collections and credit governance.
• High emotional intelligence with the ability to handle difficult conversations assertively and professionally.
• Experience improving processes, implementing frameworks, or building credit tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Why You'll Want This Role
• Lead the implementation of a firm-wide credit risk assessment model.
• Shape and influence credit governance, debtor strategy, and financial controls.
• Work with experienced lawyers and leaders across diverse practice areas.
• Drive outcomes that directly strengthen cashflow and reduce write-offs.
• Join a high-performing firm with strong processes, values and growth plans.
Ready to Apply?
If you're ready to step into a senior credit control role where you can shape strategy, drive performance and make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
