About the role
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Business Partner will be based at our Head Office in Beverley, Adelaide. Reporting to the Executive General Manager, People & Culture, this role is responsible for implementing Groupwide HSE strategies while also developing and delivering site specific initiatives on HSE within the Air Radiators manufacturing sites. You will work collaboratively with site leaders and teams to ensure compliance is maintained in accordance with HSE Management System standards and legislative requirements as well as reduce the risk of injury and illness at work to all staff, contractors, and the community.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the design, development, and implementation of the HSE strategy, governance framework and key performance indicators (KPIs) to continuously improve HSE.
- Develop and deliver monitoring and reporting on performance metrics to inform management on risk, safety and environmental trends.
- Integrate and streamline safety systems, policies and processes across the organisation to ensure ongoing legislative and corporate compliance.
- Monitor changes in legislation and regulations and proactively provide information and advice to management on appropriate application and impact on organisational policy and procedures.
- Develop & implement HSE procedures/instructions/Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) and related documents aligned to policy and legislation.
- Support teams to integrate safety systems into their routine operations and provide support, coaching and advice with regard to: mitigating workplace hazards and risks; investigating safety incidents and breaches; the management of contractors; and high-risk activities.
- Develop a proactive safety culture through effective communication, collaboration, training and development across multiple site locations.
- Develop working relationships with all operational and site leaders to implement safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of safety and environmental programs, initiatives and strategies, identify risks and recommend appropriate improvements.
- Conduct/arrange and participate in target inspections on sites, internal audits and support incident investigations.
- Development of training, coaching, instruction and guidance to line managers, and operational staff on HSE topics – including conducting risk assessments, lockout tagout (LOTO), powered mobile plant, health monitoring, return to work / rehabilitation, hazardous chemical handling and hazardous manual handling in various environments including manufacturing and warehousing.
- Mentor, support, and train colleagues at all levels of the business.
- Support the design and manufacturing area on all injury management matters including return to work programs and processes.
- Travel to sites throughout the country, as required.
Qualifications, accreditations, and experience
The HSE Business Partner will have:
Essential:
- 7+ years' experience in Health and Safety with exposure to high-risk sectors (manufacturing, civil construction, mining, transport, etc.)
- Experience working cross-state, understanding variations in legislation.
- Experience in RTW and Injury Management policy and process
- Preferably tertiary level Health and Safety qualified (minimum Diploma qualified)
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable or willing to obtain.
- Able to operate at a strategic and operational level, providing clear guidance and direction.
- Preferably experience within a manufacturing environment
- Possess a practical and forward-thinking approach to HSE
- Genuine team player
- Highly motivated to work autonomously
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage workload to meet deadlines.
