Our Planning and Environment Team is working throughout Australasia on iconic projects that are shaping the energy transition journey to net-zero carbon emissions. We deliver innovative technical solutions to our clients in high voltage power generation, transmission, and distribution.
The opportunity
As part of our ongoing Australian growth, we are seeking an environmental assessment lead for our NSW business to service our energy clients and projects, as well as our other core markets in water, defence, industry and infrastructure. Bases in either Sydney or Newcastle, this opportunity will allow you to be involved in major energy and other critical infrastructure projects in Australia alongside a high performing team.
As Principal in Planning or Environmental Science, you will play a key role in the NSW Planning and Environment (P&E) team taking the senior technical lead role in environmental assessment and planning in NSW. You will take responsibility for technical excellence and delivery of environmental assessment and planning work by the NSW P&E Team. You'll be overseeing project delivery to our key clients in energy, water, defence, and infrastructure working towards improving outcomes for them, the community and the environment.
You will work with our Technical Director – Environmental Science to help build capability and drive business development ensuring Beca's continued success in the environmental planning sector.
About you
This is a key role in our team, so you will be experienced in leading complex approvals for large infrastructure or industrial projects in NSW and have a thorough understanding of NSW and Commonwealth regulatory frameworks, legislation, and approval processes.
Along with exceptional stakeholder engagement skills you will be a proactive problem-solver; anticipating risks and developing early mitigation strategies. Experience in obtaining approvals for energy and/or water projects and REAP accreditation will be beneficial
