We work closely with our construction delivery partners to provide an end to end solution our Fibre Optic GPON networks. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Fibre Optics Technician.
Job Summary:
As a Fibre Optics Technician, you will play a crucial role in the implementation of FTTP networks. You will be responsible for assisting senior technician in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic cables, with a focus on cable hauling and general support tasks. This is a skilled position that offers valuable on-the-job training and career development opportunities in the field of fibre optics.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and termination of fibre optic cables, connectors, and related equipment.
- Perform cable hauling tasks, including pulling and routing fibre optic cables through conduits and trenches.
- Assist in the preparation and organization of materials, tools, and equipment required for installations.
- Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fibre optic networks.
- Conduct tests and measurements to ensure the quality and integrity of fibre optic installations.
- Follow safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including documentation of cable routes, splices, and terminations.
- Provide general support to the team, including site clean-up and equipment maintenance.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience and familiarity with fibre optic network installations is essential.
-Manual drivers licence and clean driving record essential
-Confidence towing and reversing trailers
-Ability to build underground enclosures with heat shrinks.
-Splicing experience
-OTDR, Insertion loss, and PON testing experience.
- Firm knowledge of telecommunications and networking principles.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy objects and working in outdoor environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry practices.
