Head of Compliance, Governance and Ethics (MLRO) - Australia
OSL Australia is a key subsidiary of OSL Group Limited, a publicly listed company and global leader in licensed digital asset platform services. As we prepare for our Australian license, we are building our foundational team.
The Australian regulatory landscape for digital assets is under significant scrutiny. In this environment, our strategy is to lead with best-in-class compliance. We are seeking a strategic Head of Compliance to design, implement, and own our entire local compliance framework. This individual will be our primary point of contact with ASIC and AUSTRAC and will be instrumental in demonstrating our commitment to meeting and exceeding local regulatory expectations from day one.
Responsibilities
- Regulatory Leadership & Liaison: Serve as the designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and primary Compliance Officer. Act as the key point of contact and manage all relationships with AUSTRAC, ASIC, and other relevant regulatory bodies, ensuring transparent and proactive communication.
- AML/CTF Program Development: Design, implement, and maintain a robust, risk-based AML/CTF program fully compliant with the Australian AML/CTF Act and Rules, tailored to the specific risks of the digital asset ecosystem.
- Compliance Framework Build-Out: Develop and own the full suite of compliance, governance, and ethical policies and procedures from the ground up, ensuring they are practical, effective, and integrated into all business activities.
- Strategic Business Advisory: Partner closely with the business, product, and technology teams as a trusted advisor. Provide pragmatic compliance guidance on new products, services, and strategic initiatives to ensure growth is achieved within regulatory boundaries.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks. Stay ahead of regulatory developments and enforcement trends (e.g., recent AUSTRAC actions) to continuously adapt and strengthen our control environment.
- Training & Culture: Champion a strong culture of compliance and ethics. Develop and deliver effective training programs to ensure all staff understand their obligations under the AML/CTF framework and other relevant regulations.
Requirements
- Proven MLRO Experience: 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in a compliance leadership role, with specific experience as a designated MLRO (or Deputy MLRO) within Australia.
- Deep Regulatory Expertise: Expert, practical knowledge of the Australian AML/CTF Act, Rules, and regulatory guidance. Direct experience liaising with AUSTRAC is essential. Experience with ASIC licensing requirements is highly advantageous.
- Industry Background: A background in digital assets, fintech, banking, or financial services, with a clear understanding of the associated financial crime risks.
- Builder Mindset: A proven track record of developing, implementing, and enhancing compliance frameworks and programs, not just maintaining them.
- Strategic Communicator: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory requirements to non-compliance stakeholders and to represent the company confidently with regulators.
- Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with compliance and blockchain analytics monitoring tools (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic, Refinitiv) is a significant advantage.
- Direct experience navigating a licensing application with ASIC or a similar financial services regulator.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diploma in AML/Compliance).

As a pioneer in bridging traditional finance and the digital asset economy, OSL Group adheres to its core concept: Open, Secure, and Licensed, empowering the next generation of global financial infrastructure.
