Commercial & Contracts Manager

As a top-tier consultancy firm, we offer diverse experiences across multiple projects in an expansive selection of industries. You'll be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle, from tendering/pre-contract, through to delivery and claims management.Working on projects across Queensland and Northern Territory, with our Region Commercial Director, and with a focus on either higher risk, complex and/or high value projects (generally Collaborative Contacts, Design and Construction and Alliance delivery models), you will provide robust commercial and contract management support and advice to project teams to manage GHD's risks and to safeguard GHD's contractual and commercial position.This will see you involved in:Lead pre-award activities: Support bid teams with commercial strategy, tender preparation, contract negotiation, and risk assessment. Review and shape commercial frameworks: Advise on multipliers, pricing models, and commercial terms to optimise project outcomes. Prepare and review Contract Management Plans: Develop process flowcharts and templates for all types of contractual notices. Employ contracts management best practices: Ensure timely and consistent advice or preparation and submission of contractual notifications and claims for variations, delays, and other matters. Assist with contract reviews at tender phase: Ensure commercial provisions are appropriate and aligned with project goals. Provide sound and timely commercial advice: Guide Project Directors and Managers on contractual and commercial matters throughout the project lifecycle. Support project financials: Prepare and submit progress payment claims, manage procurement and subcontractors, and participate in financial reporting. Mentor and supervise commercial team members: Share expertise and support professional development.What would you bring to the team?Extensive pre-award experience: Demonstrated success in tendering, bid preparation, contract negotiation, and commercial risk assessment. Strong understanding of multipliers and pricing strategies: Experience in consulting or project environments highly regarded. Delivery of construction projects and/or professional services in transport infrastructure, mining, property/buildings, power, or water industries. Contract administration/management experience: >5 years essential, >10 years desirable. Knowledge of security of payments legislation and project controls practices (e.g., monitoring progress, earned value, reporting). Tertiary qualifications in law, commercial, or construction management (highly regarded). Advanced contract negotiating skills, claims management experience, and understanding of onerous contract provisions. Experience on D&C projects; PPP or Alliance frameworks advantageous.Interested?
