About the Opportunity
Primary and Community Health are looking for a driven, enthusiastic and experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist to work within their highly skilled Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks team.
You will have the opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team providing health and developmental screening in early education settings and providing assessment, intervention and capacity building and direct care pathways for children in SWSLHD.

What You'll be Doing
The senior occupational therapist provides clinical governance, leadership, and expertise within the Primary and Community Health paediatric occupational therapy services including the provision of safe, timely, compassionate, and high-quality person-centered care. This position will support the implementation of the Brighter Beginnings preschool health and development screening, and will provide assessment, early intervention, capacity building and direct care pathways for children in SWSLHD.
The role also participates in the evaluation of Brighter Beginnings initiatives and assists in the development
and provision of education and training programs. Additionally, the role provides supervision to level 1/ 2 occupational therapists, allied health assistance and students as guided by the Head of Department and Brighter Beginnings Project Lead.

SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.
These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.
With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

- Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, with registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services within paediatric populations.
- Demonstrated experience in the identification of evidence based practice and/or development of treatment protocols
- Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process
- Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring of staff and/or students
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in a range of programs
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
