Ausecology, an Australian-owned organisation and part of the Niche Group, is looking for a passionate and experienced Environmental Field Officer/Bush Regenerator Supervisor who has the passion, physical capability and skills to execute projects in weed management and ecological restoration activities.

The role will be full-time based mostly in the Greater Brisbane region and surrounds. There may be opportunities to participate in projects further afield including Scenic Rim and Central Qld Regions (Biloela, Rockhampton and Gladstone) which may require several days away, accommodation and food provided at our expense.

Role and Key Responsibilities:

This is a field-based role and is physically demanding.

  • Execution of environmental projects, including:
  • offset installation and management
  • revegetation/bush regeneration works
  • large-scale weed control
  • small and large-scale planting
  • burn prep and ecological burns (if required)
  • Adhere to Ausecology's Mobile Management System
  • participate in all HSEQ audits and contribute to the continuous improvement of Ausecology's Mobile Management System
  • provide feedback or suggestions for improvements
  • execute fieldwork in line with quality assurance and safety procedures
  • complete and submit all HSE and project forms as required
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Participate in all training requirements
  • Ensure warehouse, plant and equipment are maintained and stored correctly
Skills and experience:
  • Min 2 years of field bush regeneration, natural area technician, land conservation experience
  • Qualification in Conservation and Land/Ecosystem Management (Natural Area Restoration) or similar area or practical infield experience
  • Plant identification skills – native and exotic across a range of ecosystem types
  • Current ACDC Licence
  • Current manual driver's licence (or ability to achieve)
Highly regarded:
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ecological burn experience
  • Chainsaw cross-cut and felling
  • 4WD and trailer experience
  • Planting experience
  • First & CPR certificate
  • Tool and small engine maintenance
  • Remote area (rural) work experience favoured
