About the role

As a Senior Adviser Public Policy and Government Relations, you'll be responsible for the delivery of Australian Retirement Trust's Policy and Advocacy strategies. As a member of a small and high performing business unit, you will help drive the delivery of Australian Retirement Trust's Policy and Advocacy Strategy to realise our ambition to shape the superannuation sector.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Participate in the policy development process at Australian Retirement Trust through research, analysis, and drafting.
  • Develop policy positions and produce supporting documentation to be presented to the Australian Retirement Trust Policy Operating and Executive Committees, and the ART Board.
  • Drive and promote alignment between Australian Retirement Trust's enterprise strategy and the Policy, Advocacy, and corporate affairs strategies.
  • Undertake engagement with key political stakeholders including peak industry groups, unions, government departments, and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop Australian Retirement Trust's policy positions.
  • Assist with responding to government and regulatory body consultations on proposed legislative and regulatory reforms and ensure the response provided is aligned to the Strategy.

This role is available as a 12-month max-term/ secondment opportunity.

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • High level policy analysis and development skills.
  • Ability to strike a balance between providing strong direction and delivery, whilst working in a cooperative decision-making environment.
  • Excellent project, budget, and time management skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written skills and experience in managing projects.
  • High level understanding of public policy frameworks, legislative and policy development processes.
  • Parliamentary and legislative analysis, including the ability to identify key strategies for political engagement across all levels of Government.
  • Strong knowledge of the financial services industry and its regulatory requirements.
  • Research experience to stay at the forefront of policy thinking, impact, and development.
