- Communicate and make decisions that are based on professional judgement, evaluating risks and in the context of a complex and changing environment.
- Record detailed incident information, prepare reports and advise on operational, tactical and high level implications.
- Provide expertise and technical knowledge in specialist area across a range of programs or activities for the agency.
- Provide accurate and specialised advice including anticipating problems and contributing to issues management.
- Contribute to the development of team objectives for short term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives.
- Work with independence, subject to broad direction against established priorities, practices, and methodologies to deliver quality outcomes.
- Make decisions, balancing business outcomes with appropriate cyber risk management.
- Supervise and manage a cyber incident response team made up of staff and vendors and provide expert advice and assistance to team members.
- Liaise, engage and collaborate with other internal or external organisations to resolve and report on incidents.
- Anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Implement work plans for the work area including setting tasks and priorities, managing workflow and allocating resources.
- Other duties for the team as directed.
Knowledge and experience
The successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Experience leading technical staff and managing cyber incidents from end to end.
- Experience working within a complex IT environment, including with cloud native technologies.
- Technical expertise in systems administration, and security products including SIEM, vulnerability management and service or case management.
- Ability to lead a team working in a complex operational environment including a range of technologies in both datacentre and cloud environments.
- Responsiveness and initiative, both leading and participating in technical analysis of incidents, cyber risks and controls.
- Ability to work in a ITIL service management context, with a range of internal teams and service providers.
- Self-motivation, drive, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team and maintain effective customer, business and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a complex environment.
- Organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a technical environment to deliver quality outcomes.
- Effective stakeholder and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information to a range of audiences.
