Family Lawyer, Sunshine

• Full time ongoing position (part-time considered)
• Salary range: $90,871 - $101,868 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
• Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model

About the roleVictoria Legal Aid (VLA) is seeking a dedicated family lawyer to join our vibrant Sunshine team. Our team includes 2 Senior Family Lawyers, 2 Junior Family Lawyers, a Deputy Managing Lawyer, and a supportive administrative team. You'll also be part of a wider network of 50 external professionals, providing you with valuable insights and support.

In this role, you will provide high quality legal services, including duty lawyer support, casework, and advice, while advocating for clients across various courts and tribunals. You'll also have the chance to engage with the community, contribute to legal education, and take part in important law reform projects.

This role is based at our Sunshine CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.

About youAs our ideal candidate, you will possess:

• Proven track record in family law, family violence, and child protection, with effective representation in courts and tribunals.
• Strong understanding of family law and related issues, including legal procedures and current trends.
• High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, staff, and external stakeholders, and manage sensitive and complex issues.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate, contribute to a supportive team environment, and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
