Bowery Lane is our flagship Cafe and is part of a multi award winning hospitality company which operate a number of hospitality brands and experiences across Sydney and Melbourne.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Cafe Supervisor. This is a great opportunity for an experienced cafe supervisor looking for a new challenge and to get some work / life balance as Bowery Lane trades Monday to Friday, daytime hours only.

The Role:

As the Cafe Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in leading our dynamic team, overseeing the operations of our cafe, and working with our senior management team on progressing the offer and service. Your responsibilities will be critical to ensuring that our large venue for dinning, takeaway and reservations, operates seamlessly and continues to deliver an unparalleled dining experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervising cafe operations, including scheduling staff, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Hiring, training, and supervising staff members, including all FOH and BOH staff.
  • Overseeing food presentation and ensuring that all dishes meet quality standards.
  • Handling customer complaints and resolving issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintaining a positive and professional image for the cafe, both internally and externally.
  • Ensuring that the cafe is clean and well-maintained, including managing maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Collaborating with other members of the management team to develop and implement company-wide policies and procedures.
  • Staying up-to-date on industry trends and developments, and continuously seeking ways to improve the cafe's operations and profitability.

This is a very hands-on role where you will need to lead by example, we value experience and desire over formal qualifications.

Applicants must have:

  • 3+ years' experience as a Restaurant or Cafe Supervisor in a table service restaurant
  • Experience maximising bookings and understand how to work a reservations book
  • A current RSA certificate
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as well as a passion for food and hospitality.
  • Understanding of running POS and basic computer systems
  • Sound knowledge of food, wine and spirit products
  • You should be able to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and be committed to providing excellent customer service. Excellent presentation
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with financial management and budgeting is desirable.
