Job Overview:

Coffee Life Traf in Trafalgar is looking for a qualified Cook to join our team. We are a busy and well-loved café known for our all-day breakfast, fresh seasonal dishes, and classic favourites. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive, high-energy kitchen where you can use your skills, contribute to a popular menu, and grow your career with a trusted local business.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes from our all-day menu, including breakfast classics, burgers, hot food, sandwiches, and sweet treats.
  • Ensure dishes are well-presented, consistent, and delivered to a high standard.
  • Assist with daily prep, portioning, and plating for both breakfast and lunch services.
  • Monitor quality, freshness, and portion control while maintaining efficiency.
  • Support menu development with seasonal ideas and new dish suggestions.
  • Manage stock rotation, storage, and kitchen organisation.
  • Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety standards.
  • Guide and support junior staff during busy service periods.
  • Keep kitchen areas clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years full-time experience working as a Cook/Chef in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
  • Proven ability to maintain high standards under pressure.
  • Sound knowledge of safe food handling procedures and kitchen hygiene practices.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
