We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Primary Health Care to lead strategic development, commissioning, and improvement of primary health care services across the Gold Coast. This senior leadership role involves aligning initiatives with government policy, managing a high-performing team, and contributing to regional and national health planning.

We identify the health needs of our local community, then fund and improve primary health services to keep people well and out of hospital. About the Role

You will provide strategic leadership that facilitates the development, management, procurement, evaluation and improvement of primary health care-based initiatives and services. Your role will ensure that initiatives and services align with government policies and meet the strategic goals of GCPHN. In collaboration with our Senior Leadership Team, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership. You will lead a passionate primary health care team, maintaining a positive and high-performing culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior leadership across a range of portfolio areas as required by the organisation.
  • Research government policy and strategy, ensuring alignment of regional initiatives and projects.
  • Contribute to the annual needs assessment, identification of changing trends, patterns, and emerging gaps across portfolio areas.
  • Build, develop and maintain strong and collaborative partnerships through primary health care organisation and provider engagement.
  • Contribute to Strategic planning and lead annual work and project planning relevant to portfolio, including the annual Primary Health Care work plan
  • Represent GCPHN in Regional, National and State advisory and steering committee meetings as nominated by the organisation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s and experience in a health setting
  • Ability to plan and provide strategic commissioning leadership both within a multi-disciplinary team and more broadly across a complex human service delivery environment.
  • Highly developed project management skills to plan, lead and manage complex projects simultaneously in a health setting, to a high standard, on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in an environment of ongoing health reform and organisational change, to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budget allocations with regards to staffing, projects and activities.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, influencing, partnering, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, particularly in relation to community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience leading and managing a high-performing team.

Highly Desirable Experience:

  • Clinical background in a related field (nursing, allied health etc.) with current registration.
