The Mechanical Fitter will undertake a variety of manufacturing duties, including but not limited to:

  • Carry out routine, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on glass manufacturing equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs on mechanical systems including conveyors, cutting lines, furnaces, and handling machinery.
  • Complete work in accordance with maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and maximise plant availability.
  • Accurately record all maintenance activities in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Follow safe work procedures, company policies, and quality standards in all tasks.
  • Collaborate with production teams to prioritise urgent repairs and coordinate planned maintenance activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues and suggesting enhancements to preventative maintenance programs.

National Glass is Australia's leading wholesale supplier of flat glass building products. Its capabilities and processes include toughening, heat soaking, custom laminating, ceramic ink digital printing and insulated glass units along with advanced cutting, edgework and CNC processing.

Beginning operations in 1989, National Glass now manufactures from a state of the art 15,000 sm2 manufacturing facility in Brisbane and 5,000 sm2 facility in Townsville, supplying QLD, NT, Northern NSW and greater Sydney metro markets. A large range of glass stock types are available including clear, tinted, low-iron (Extra Clear), low-E, reflective, laminated, acid etched, silvered or mirrored glass and patterned glass.
