About the Role
As we continue to build upon our success, an exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Chinese Teacher, to join our school community for the 2026 academic year.
This part-time (FTE 0.40) fixed term role and reports into the Head of Languages. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an engaging and innovative Chinese curriculum in the Senior School.
To be successful in this opportunity you will require:
- Current VIT Registration.
- Previous experience teaching Chinese across Senior School (essential).
- Experience in delivering VCE Chinese would be considered an advantage.
- Expert knowledge of content area and a demonstrated willingness to continue to develop knowledge and skills.
- A current knowledge of Australian Curriculum imperatives as they impact on LOTE.
- Capability to impart to students a love of learning of the Chinese language, literature, and culture.
- Ability to use of a variety of teaching strategies that address different aspects of the learning area and the range of learning styles of students in the classroom.
- Excellent appreciation of, and the ability to use, a range of assessment strategies.
- Well-developed classroom management strategies that can be applied to the St Catherine's culture.
- Excellent ICT skills with the ability to use ICT to support teaching and learning programs, as well as administration practices.
- Ability to work and contribute productively to a team situation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Personal resilience with an ability to be proactive and take initiative.
- Highly developed organisational skills.
- Willingness to uphold the ethos and values of the School at all times.
