About Us:

Desert Blue Connect is a leading not-for-profit community organisation in Geraldton, Western Australia that offers specialist family violence response, emergency accommodation, primary prevention of family violence, rural support services and women's health.  We offer a range of services across the Midwest for women, men and children.  We are committed to supporting communities and people by providing quality service delivery, advocacy and prevention initiatives.

The Role:

The Midwest Early Years Gender Equality project (MEYGE) is a primary prevention project which provides a unique opportunity to support parents and early years services to drive the generational cultural change required to see an end to violence against women and children.

The MEYGE Project Officer is responsible for developing educational resources, guides and tools to support families and the early years sector to embed prevention initiatives across various community settings - promoting opportunities and experiences for young children that are not limited by gendered expectations.

Essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion, Education or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated project delivery experience
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability in building networks and engaging community stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of national and state frameworks which address gender-based violence
  • Understanding of family and domestic violence, at risk groups and communities
  • Experience working in the early years education sector
  • Experience facilitating professional development
  • Experience in developing marketing and communication strategies
