About the Role

The Peer Worker for the Drug and Alcohol (D&A) Service will draw on their own lived or living experience, in providing individual and group support to consumers by working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to promote engagement of people in their individual treatment.

This role will support people accessing D&A Services including Opioid Treatment, Counselling, Stimulant Treatment and GP/Pharmacy Liaison Programs. The position is open to non-graduates and graduates. To be eligible as a HEO Graduate, you must have a relevant health/social science qualification.

Location of the role is negotiable within the MNCLHD at Coffs harbour, Port Macquarie or Kempsey.

Job share and part time roles considered.

About You

  • Can engage and build rapport with people in a compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Can advocate for marginalised people to achieve fairness and accessibility of treatment.
  • Have a lived or living experience as a consumer of drug and alcohol services
  • Have good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
