We are seeking a Systems Engineer / Technical Support Engineer to join our Maritime Services team. This is a growth-focused role, designed for someone with a strong technical foundation and a passion for capability development, who wants to learn, contribute, and progress into more independent engineering roles.

You will work on meaningful Defence projects that directly support Australia's sovereign capability, while receiving mentoring and professional development from experienced systems engineers.

What you will do

  • Support mission engineering and systems engineering activities that help the Commonwealth of Australia define and deliver maritime capability.
  • Develop model-based systems engineering (MBSE) models under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather and validate inputs for capability models and documentation.

  • Assist in drafting sections of key capability development, systems engineering and project documents, including:

  • Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)

  • Test & Evaluation Management Plan (TEMP)
  • Capability Definition Documentation
  • Capability System Operating and Support Intent (OSI)
  • Contribute to analysis and recommendations that support decision making.
  • Travel as required to support workshops, trials, and project activities.

About you

  • An early-career engineer (systems, electrical, mechanical, or maritime), OR
  • ADF technical or operational background (sailors, operators, maintainers) with a strong technical foundation and an interest in capability development, mission engineering and systems engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Good communicator, able to contribute effectively to document development and stakeholder discussions.
  • Keen to learn, grow, and be mentored by experienced team members, including Defence engineers.
  • Holds an active NV1 security clearance (NV2 preferred).
  • Australian citizenship is essential.
