This is an immediate start role, initially offered as a 5-week placement with possible extension.

As the School Counsellor, you will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing of students, working collaboratively within the school community to provide a contemporary counselling model of practice. You will:

  • Provide short-term, strength-based and solution-focused counselling support to students (individuals and small groups).
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, and wellbeing teams to support student care plans.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate to ensure holistic support.
  • Assist students in addressing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges to enhance engagement and learning.
  • Contribute to proactive wellbeing initiatives and strategies within the school.

About You

We are seeking someone who can bring both compassion and professionalism to this rewarding role. Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a school environment or working with children/adolescents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to child safety and wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Current Working with Children Check (Bluecard)
  • Current Police Check.
  • Demonstrated experience in counselling or guidance within an educational or child-focused setting.
