We are a large Australian based multifaceted and diverse company. Privately owned, Parkside is now a leading player in saw milling, timber manufacturing, retail and wholesale timber and hardware, land and property development, home construction and retirement industries which has been operating for over 75 years.

Due to company growth we are currently looking for assistant Mill Manager and Supervisor positions for our Mills based in South East QLD.

About the roles:

These are full time roles and will be based in regional town centres. The purpose of the positions is to provide leadership and manage the sawmill site's teams, and develop the teams culture to deliver maximum returns against the sites capabilities,  as well as assist in the overall Strategic Planning and Management as part of the Senior Management Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring production goals are consistently met
  • Plan the mill production with the company's Sales Team.
  • Actively monitor all work centres to ensure they are meeting or exceeding the budgeted figures.
  • Provide strong leadership to the Sawmill team and foster a service ethic
  • Provide leadership in developing and executing internal training plans and programs for mill staff
  • Co-ordinate and implement a site preventative maintenance program for the mill
  • Develop and control systems to ensure mill inventory balances and you are controlling your stocks
  • Implement and manage a quality system that meets or exceeds our customers expectation
  • Actively participate in and promote company and site safety/Environment programs, including proactively reducing unsafe practices and cultures.
  • Liaise with local community and local government to ensure the sawmills are, and continue to be, preferred employment paths for both local residents and those who move to the local regions as part of lifestyle choices.

Criteria:

  • 3 years' experience in a similar role preferred
  • Previous eperience in hardwood sawmilling operations
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
