Hawkesbury District Health Service is a teaching hospital in Windsor NSW, providing acute, community and allied health services for the local community and surrounding districts. The service provides 24-hour emergency, medical, surgical, diagnostic, maternity, neonatal, paediatric, palliative, intensive and coronary care services.

Are you a dedicated and experienced nursing professional to join our After-Hours Nurse Manager team. This role operates on a rotating seven-day roster, covering weekday afternoon and night shifts, as well as morning, afternoon, and night shifts on weekends.

The After-Hours Nurse Manager is responsible for the operational oversight and support of the hospital outside of standard business hours, ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources, with a particular focus on Nursing and Midwifery Services. This is a key leadership position that plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of patient care and service delivery across the hospital during after-hours periods.

What You Will Bring To The Role

• Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Relevant tertiary qualification in management and/or extensive post-graduate clinical and management experience in the acute health care setting
• Leadership and interpersonal skills demonstrating motivation, delegation, negotiation and knowledge with clinical experience of evidence based acute health assessment, treatment and care
• Proven ability to provide leadership, manage resources and drive change effectively with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
• Computer literacy including working knowledge of staff scheduling systems HealthRoster and Patient Flow Portal
• Understanding of and commitment to HAT, bed management/patient flow objectives in an acute health setting, with the ability to resolve complex problems in a timely manner and demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of information technology systems to support bed management and Patient Flow
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage complex, competing and challenging situations, including clinical and corporate risk in a timely manner plus Human Resource management abilities including an understanding of industrial relations and associated processes and procedures
• High level verbal and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to act as a change agent and lead organisational change in patient care, with knowledge of current nursing practice at a local, national and international level
