The Special Care Nursery at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
The Clinical Nurse (CN) provides nursing services within the health service settings; and is responsible for a portfolio with a focus on clinical care/leadership, management, education and/or research. The activities are predominantly clinical in nature, but also provide support to a Nurse Grade 7 or above in management activities. The CN provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient-focused evidence-based nursing care, plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing staff.
About the Team
The Special Care Nursery (SCN) is located in A Block, on the ground floor of the Mackay Base Hospital in close proximity to the Birthing Suite and Women's Health Unit. The SCN is currently a level 4 Neonatal Service which has the capability to plan and deliver care to infants greater than or equal to 32 weeks gestational age. It supports continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and an estimated birth weight of 1500gms or greater. The service may accept transfer of infants of any weight or gestational age from a tertiary centre once the infants are considered stable.
