Maintenance Shift Fitter - Food Manufacturing

Location: Morwell

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter to join the Reliability team based at a large yogurt manufacture in Gippsland.

The Maintenance Fitter will be responsible for ensuring all factory maintenance and service functions are carried out in an effective, efficient, and timely manner. We are looking for someone who has experience in FMCG or food manufacturing but can be open to other backgrounds.

This position's roster will be comprised of four days on (2-day shift, 2-night shift) then four days off. All shifts are 12-hour shifts. Super competitive hourly rate as outlined in the EBA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment within the production facility.

  • Install and assemble mechanical components and machinery to support production operations.

  • Diagnose faults and perform corrective actions promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance in accordance with the maintenance plan.

  • Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained in line with health and safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and parts usage.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Fitter in a manufacturing and FMCG environment.

  • Relevant technical certification or trade qualification (e.g., Mechanical Fitter Certificate or equivalent).

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.

  • Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
