We are partnered with a successful Australian business investing heavily in data and technology to fuel their next stage of growth. They have created a greenfield opportunity for a Principal Data Engineer to architect and deliver a next-generation data platform that will serve as the foundation for analytics, AI and decision-making across the company.
As Principal Data Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of designing, building, and scaling a new cloud-native data platform from scratch. This is a highly strategic role where you'll shape the technical vision, choose the right technologies, and establish best practices for data engineering. You'll be hands-on in building pipelines and infrastructure while also providing thought leadership, mentoring, and setting standards for the broader team.
Skills we are looking for:
- Proven experience designing and building large-scale data platforms in AWS
 - Expertise in AWS data services
(essential)
such as Glue, EMR, S3, Redshift, Kinesis etc. - Strong Python and SQL for data pipeline development
 - Knowledge of DevOps practices e.g. CI/CD pipelines, containerisation
 - Solid understanding of data governance & security within AWS
 - Knowledge of data quality, monitoring, and observability tools.
 - Ability to make architecture and toolset decisions in a greenfield environment
 - Strong communication & stakeholder management skills
