The Company

Vogelsang develops, produces and distributes highly-engineered equipment that is easy to operate and maintain. The head office is located in Essen/Oldb. in Lower Saxony, Germany. Founded in 1929 as a manufacturer of agricultural machinery, the company has grown to become a specialist in individually configurable machines, plants and systems for the agricultural, biogas, industrial, transportation and wastewater sectors.

The Role

We are looking for an exceptional person to occupy the role of Field Service Technician / Mechanical Fitter as a key member of our growing team. This dual-role position is based at our Smeaton Grange workshop but includes frequent travel to customer sites across New South Wales and interstate when required.

The successful candidate will be hands-on, versatile, safety-focused, and passionate about mechanical systems. You will be involved in assembly, refurbishment, repair, and testing of Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps, macerators, and associated equipment both in-house and in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Workshop Duties:

  • Mechanical assembly, disassembly, and reconditioning of pumps and components
  • Painting, sandblasting, and hot works preparation of equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment
  • Assist with warehouse duties when required (loading/unloading using forklift)
  • Conduct inspections and complete service documentation accurately

Field Service Duties:

  • Perform on-site diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of Vogelsang products at customer premises
  • Provide technical support and customer training on correct use and care of equipment
  • Carry out scheduled servicing and emergency breakdown response
  • Ensure compliance with site-specific safety protocols and procedures
  • Represent Vogelsang with professionalism and strong customer service at all times

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter and Turner or similar)
  • Previous experience working with pumps, rotating equipment, or industrial machinery
  • Forklift Licence – Highly regarded
  • White Card – Highly Regarded
  • Current driver's Licence – Required
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally/interstate when required
  • Basic welding, painting, and hot works preparation skills
  • Strong problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Physically fit and able to work in workshop and field conditions
