The Opportunity

AWCON Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and driven Project Engineer to join our team on a FIFO roster, working across major projects throughout Australia. This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in delivering high-quality civil works while supporting the company's continued growth and expansion.

As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing works across infrastructure, mining services, and concrete construction projects. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in dynamic site environments and wants to make a tangible impact on complex, large-scale civil & mining construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the planning, design, and delivery of civil and structural engineering works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality specifications.
  • Support Project Managers and Site Supervisors with construction methodologies, resourcing, and sequencing to optimise project delivery.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and progress monitoring, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, building codes, and WHS regulations.
  • Provide technical input and problem-solving expertise for design challenges, construction methodologies, and stakeholder queries.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, including method statements, ITPs, quality records, and progress reports.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, process improvements, and cost efficiencies across project delivery.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in project engineering, ideally within civil infrastructure, concrete, or mining construction.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple work fronts, balancing technical, commercial, and operational demands.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural design, concrete construction, earthworks, and civil methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software, scheduling and project management tools, would be advantageous
  • Thorough understanding of WHS requirements, environmental obligations, and quality management systems in construction.
