Wallumatta Legal is an innovative not-for-profit family law practice dedicated to supporting the "missing middle" — people who don't qualify for Legal Aid but can't afford private firms' hourly rates.

About the role

We're seeking a Senior Family Law Solicitor (5+ years PQE) to join our Melbourne team.

In this role, you will:

  • Advise and represent clients in parenting and property matters
  • Draft legal documents, correspondence, and court material
  • Appear at the FCFCOA, mediation, and settlement conferences
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior lawyers, PLTs, and volunteers
  • Work closely with the local senior solicitor and collaborate across our national team
  • Represent Wallumatta Legal externally through stakeholder engagement and professional forums

The role is based at Melbourne Law School, with a hybrid model (typically 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH).

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • At least 5 years' post-admission experience in family law
  • Strong experience advising and representing clients across property and parenting matters
  • Advocacy skills in court and experience briefing Counsel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisation, time management, and attention to detail
  • A collaborative mindset — you value teamwork but can also run matters independently
  • Commitment to access to justice and supporting clients with empathy
