Job Description

This position provides environmental and heritage expertise on a Mining and Metals Project, primarily engaged in project planning and management activities that ensure compliance to the Company and Client requirements. The position requires the application of knowledge gained from experience and expertise to the job duties and responsibilities. The position will provide guidance and advice in areas that may impact the organization and its employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs.

Environment and Approvals -

  • Provide information and support for project regulatory approval processes for the Company's approvals team.
  • Provision of information and support for project regulatory approval processes as required.
  • Preparation and delivery of environmental impact assessments, management plans and other Project environmental and heritage planning documents to ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Client environmental and heritage specifications and requirements.
  • Provision of information for Approval Requests (AR) to Client Projects Specialist Environmental Advisor for all ground disturbance and construction activities, as required for the project in consultation with the Company's approvals team. The environmental approvals submissions will be undertaken in a timely manner to enable internal and external approvals to be obtained.
  • Submission of a Disturbance Permit plan which identifies disturbance in accordance with key milestones and identifies associated/appropriate facilities and requirements (including location of all exclusion and restriction areas). The plan must identify permanent and temporary disturbance and clearing figures aligning with internal clearing limits (required to verify AR application).
  • Liaison with the Client appointed representative to coordinate environmental requirements into the process plant and infrastructure design.
  • Produce and provide mine infrastructure drawings and GIS 'shape files' to the Company approvals team.
  • Input environmental requirements into the basis of design.
  • Provide information regarding implementation of Company HSEQ systems and procedures, including the development of the following:

i. supporting documents for Works approvals (Part V) submissions;

ii. participate in an environmental design criteria review process; and

iii. conduct relevant inductions and training sessions for Project Personnel;

Heritage

The Contractor must provide information and support for project heritage approval processes for the Company's heritage team as follows:

  • Liaison and submission of requests that impact heritage sites.
  • Liaison with Client to ensure digital data sets relating to heritage sites are up to date.
  • Liaison with project team to ensure heritage information is utilised in design and disturbance permitting processes.
  • Provide reports, spatial data and other related information as required by the Client.
  • Raise Survey / environmental approval requests, GIS layers, coordinate with Client Team.

Typical Minimum Qualifications - Related Education, Experience & Skills

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and six (6) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job site related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
