Born Again Pallets is seeking a full-time Retail Trade Assistant to join our busy team. This role is perfect for someone with retail and timber knowledge who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Born Again Pallets specialises in recycled timber, pallets, and custom timber products. We pride ourselves on sustainability, craftsmanship, and excellent customer service.

About the Role

This is a full-time position working Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.

You must be available to work Saturdays — this is a non-negotiable requirement.

The role will begin with a 6-month probationary period, with the opportunity for long-term employment for the right candidate.

Pay Rates:

  • $30 per hour – Weekdays (Tuesday to Friday)
  • $45 per hour – Saturdays

As a Retail Trade Assistant, you'll work across both customer service and workshop hands on timber operations and handling. You'll support retail sales, timber processing, and workshop tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer service (in-store, over the phone, via email)
  • Processing customer orders and operating the point-of-sale system
  • Cash handling and basic administration tasks
  • Timber handling and processing (cutting, stacking, sorting, staining, lining, packing)
  • Stock handling, stock counting, and maintaining accurate records
  • Sorting mixed timber and large sheet materials
  • Operating forklifts for stock movement and loading/unloading
  • Using hand and power tools for timber processing tasks
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment

Skills & Experience

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Previous retail experience and proven customer service skills
  • Background in a workshop/timber environment with good timber knowledge
  • Ability to operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Physically fit and healthy – able to lift, stack, and move timber products
  • Forklift licence (highly regarded)
  • Strong initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure
  • Good computer skills (MS Office, email, POS systems)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Must be available every Saturday
