About the Project:

NAWIC is the lead partner for an innovative project designed to engage with men and support upstanders to build fair, inclusive and respectful workplace cultures across the sector. NAWIC is working with industry partners, ADCO, Australian Workers Union, CPB Contractors, Holmesglen TAFE and the University of Sydney to deliver this project.

The project has been awarded almost $5 million in funding from the Federal Government's flagship Building Women's Careers Program. Specifically, the grant funding is provided to deliver the Allyship in Action: Transforming Culture to Attract and Retain Women project which will tackle poor attitudes and behaviours; empower men to sponsor women into leadership; and utilise the power of cultural ambassadors of all genders to embed positive change on the ground.

Position Overview:

We're seeking a dynamic and driven Training Officer to lead the development of a suite of programs as a part of the Allyship in Action Program — a transformative initiative aimed at addressing and challenging inappropriate behaviours on construction sites.

As the Project Officer, you will oversee the development and execution of these training programs. You'll be the face of the program—engaging participants, managing logistics, and ensuring the content resonates with real-world challenges and solutions.

The role will support the delivery of the Allyship in Action Project on a fixed-term contract until completion on 30 April 2028.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder management


• Establish and maintain working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including subcontractors


• Coordinate and book training sessions with site-based workers

Site-based allyship - Design and Development of Training Materials


• Interpret and apply research findings to develop program materials


• Create tailored training resources in collaboration with partners


• Conduct iterative testing and refinement of training content to ensure relevance and effectiveness


• Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders

Male Sponsorship Program - Implementation and Support


• Interpret and apply research findings to develop program materials


• Identify, match and engage participants with the program


• Coordinate and execute a 6-month pilot program across four sites, engaging minimum 120 participants.

Cultural Ambassador Program – Implementation and Support


• Interpret and apply research findings to develop program materials


• Design and develop the Cultural Ambassador training and network program to support engagement and cultural capacity building.


• Establish support structures and networking mechanisms to sustain the Cultural Ambassador Program across diverse regions.


• Lead the full-scale launch of the Cultural Ambassador Program nationally

Continuous Improvement and Research


• Apply a continuous improvement framework to adapt training delivery based on participant feedback and program outcomes.


• Administer pulse surveys to assess participant experience and measure program impact.


• Collaborate with the broader team to review survey data and establish reporting


• Test, refine, and optimize the training and networking components based on feedback and pilot outcomes.

Qualifications or relevant experience:


• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment


• Understanding of the cultural and operational dynamics of the construction industry, including its challenges related to workplace culture, mental health, safety, equity and inclusion.


• Excellent written communication, fac ilitation, negotiation and interpersonal skills,


• Demonstrated experience liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including partners, members, and industry groups.


• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset

• Passionate about driving positive, lasting change in the construction industry.


• Experience working in either public and private sector organizations in a facilitation or transformation role.


• Trade experience not essential, but highly regarded
