About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Principal Project Officer - HRIS Implementation
to support the delivery and implementation of a new
Payroll-as-a-Service (PaaS)
solution using
Aurion - People and Payroll Solutions
.
In this key role, you will work within the
People and Culture
team to bridge the gap between HR operations and the project's technical delivery teams. You will ensure that system configuration, data integrity, and process design are aligned with organisational policy, industrial instruments, and operational requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HR or payroll professional with strong systems knowledge to help shape the future of our HRIS environment and enhance the employee and payroll experience across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the HR team in all HRIS and payroll-related project meetings and workshops.
- Coordinate and support the implementation of Aurion in collaboration with the HRIS project team and internal CCC project team.
- Lead and participate in
system and workflow configuration
,
business process mapping
, and
data migration
activities. - Prepare and execute
user acceptance testing (UAT)
, including development of test scripts and defect resolution tracking. - Conduct
data auditing and validation
to ensure accuracy and compliance with HR and payroll data standards. - Analyse existing HR and payroll processes and identify opportunities for improvement and automation.
- Develop and update HR policies, procedures, templates, and staff communications to reflect new system and process changes.
- Provide
subject-matter expertise
on payroll operations, including the application of State Wage Case decisions, Enterprise Bargaining increases, and leave accrual rules. - Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure system configuration supports business requirements and legislative obligations.
- Contribute to change management, training, and communication activities to support staff transition to the new HRIS.
About You
You are a proactive and highly organised professional who enjoys problem-solving and working at the intersection of HR and technology. You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in
HRIS implementation or upgrade projects
, ideally with
Aurion
or similar systems. - Strong knowledge of
payroll processes
,
industrial awards
, and
employment legislation
, preferably within a public sector environment. - Advanced skills in
business process analysis
,
data management
, and
system configuration
. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical detail into practical HR solutions.
- Strong analytical and organisational ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience working in or with
Queensland Government
or other government agencies. - Tertiary qualifications in
Human Resources, Business, or Information Systems
. - Familiarity with
project management
or
change management methodologies
such as PROSCI or PRINCE2.

Director, People and Culture
, and work collaboratively across HR, Finance, and ICT to ensure the successful implementation and transition of the Aurion system.
