Navantia Australia have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Officer to join the team from our Darling Harbour Office or from our Canberra Office. The Procurement Officer plays a critical role in supporting the sustainment of Royal Australian Navy ships by managing the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of goods and services. This position ensures that procurement activities are executed in a cost-effective, timely, and compliant manner, in accordance with Navantia's procurement policies and procedures.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities to support naval sustainment programs, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
  • Ensure daily procurement operations adhere to Navantia policies, focusing on value delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct market analysis, issue RFQs/RFTs, evaluate proposals, select vendors, and award contracts.
  • Administer supply contracts and manage purchase order variations and amendments
  • Collaborate with Australian Defence Prime Contractors and suppliers to facilitate efficient procurement processes and build strong commercial relationships.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new suppliers and customers, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance
  • Work with engineering and quality teams to confirm that procured materials and services meet technical specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee receipt and documentation of deliveries, including Certificates of Conformance, Shipping Documents, and other compliance records
  • Monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules, proactively resolving delays and continuity risks.
  • Identify and manage product obsolescence issues, coordinating with suppliers to mitigate impacts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate issuance of customer invoices, supporting efficient billing and financial workflows.
  • Monitor and manage assigned Solpeds, ensuring prompt conversion into purchase orders.
  • Use SAP exception reporting to identify and resolve issues such as overdue or unactioned orders.
  • Manage warranty claims and product-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement in procurement operations and supplier performance.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated experience in procurement, preferably within the Defence industry or related sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage procurement tasks and contracts in high-pressure environments, delivering results with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the business and with external stakeholders.
  • Experience in project and contract management, including supplier engagement and performance monitoring.
  • Sound understanding of Defence Procurement Policy; experience within the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of logistics processes and customs regulations relevant to international and domestic procurement.
  • Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance
