About the role
As a
Senior QA/Test Engineer
at splose, you'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and quality of our SaaS platform. Working closely within a product team, you'll combine hands-on testing with leading our automation strategy, conducting smoke tests for frequent deployments, and verifying new features. You'll also mentor team members, help shape quality practices, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to deliver resilient, high-quality features that truly meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Quality Leadership:
Take ownership of quality strategy within a product domain, ensuring that testing is integrated across the development lifecycle. - Automation Strategy:
Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites (e.g. Playwright, Cypress) to improve reliability, speed, and coverage of testing. - Testing Practices:
Lead smoke testing for frequent (often daily) deployments, oversee feature verification, and ensure regression coverage. - Best Practices & Standards:
Define and promote testing standards, processes, and tooling across product teams, embedding quality into engineering workflows. - Defect Management:
Drive structured defect reporting, triage, and resolution processes, ensuring rapid feedback loops with engineers and stakeholders. - Mentorship:
Provide guidance and mentorship to QA and software engineers, helping build testing capability across the organisation. - Collaboration:
Partner closely with engineers, product managers, and designers within a product triad to ensure features meet functional and customer requirements. - Continuous Improvement:
Proactively identify opportunities to improve deployment quality, automation frameworks, and testing efficiency at scale.
What you'll bring:
- Strong experience designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks for web-based applications, and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
- Deep understanding of testing methodologies, including functional, regression, end-to-end, and exploratory testing.
- Solid knowledge of SaaS and cloud-based applications, with scripting or coding experience in modern languages (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python).
- Experience leading QA initiatives within agile product teams, mentoring colleagues, and promoting a culture of shared responsibility for quality.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of influencing engineering practices and advocating for quality across the organisation.
- Good to have: experience with performance, load, security, or accessibility testing, API/contract testing, and familiarity with monitoring/observability tools.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience
- Professional certifications in software testing (e.g. ISTQB Advanced Level, ASTQB Test Automation Engineer).
- Certifications or training in modern test automation frameworks or cloud technologies; or equivalent practical experience
