Role Description/CriteriaJoin Our Team at John Paul CollegeAbout the Role: Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement student faith development activities, including prayer, reflection, sacramental preparation, and retreats.
  • Coordinate and oversee the College Retreat Program.
  • Lead Social Justice and Outreach programs, including fundraising activities, Mission Action Day, and staff/student involvement in outreach initiatives.
  • Promote issues of faith and spirituality throughout the wider school community.
  • Develop and coordinate opportunities for staff growth in faith and accreditation in Catholic education.
  • Chair the Faith Development Team and collaborate with Youth Ministers and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee whole school events, including College Assemblies, Parent Information Workshops, and Staff Wellbeing Committee initiatives.
Leadership Expectations:
  • Model and inspire continuous improvement in student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Foster reflective practice and professional dialogue among staff.
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to implement College strategic goals and manage change effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to Child Safety policies and provide a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
Key Selection Criteria:
  • A deep understanding and commitment to the ethos of Catholic education and its mission.
  • Proven educational leadership skills with extensive experience in faith and mission programs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and relationship-building.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans aligning with the College's vision and mission.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading programs such as social justice initiatives, retreat programs, and faith development activities.
  • An understanding and respect for cultural diversity, fostering inclusivity within the College.
  • Valid accreditation and qualifications in Religious Education or Theology, and current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
Position Details:
  • Start Date: January 2026 or earlier by negotiation
  • Classification: Deputy Principal – Category B, Level 6
  • Five-year term, with opportunity for renewal following a formative review in the third year (the successful candidate will receive an ongoing contract for a teaching position)
